About Me

Hi, I’m Tome.

I work as a systems engineer, spending most of my days in the digital world.
Perhaps because of that, I naturally gravitated toward analog, slow and quiet pursuits in my personal life. Cooking, reading, and listening to music have long been sources of comfort, but in 2020, I began studying Urasenke Chado. That experience opened a gentle door to Japanese culture, seasonality, and a way of living with intention.

I’m still very much a learner — not a specialist — and this blog is where I record what I discover along the way: tea gatherings, kaiseki meals, seasonal traditions, and the small moments of harmony that shape my daily rhythm.

My hope is to explore these practices with a sense of humility and curiosity, and to share what I learn with anyone who may find joy in this journey.

Please join me as I slowly build a peaceful and harmonious “wa” lifestyle.

About This Blog

When you see the kanji character “和” (wa), what comes to mind?

The kanji character “和 (wa)” is rich in meaning.
It can point to Japanese style, harmony, calmness, or a gentle softening of the heart — nagomu.
For me, “wa” has become a guiding word.

I used to push through my days with little room to breathe, often ending up overwhelmed without noticing it happening.

Over time, I found myself longing for a life with more softness, more seasonality, more attentive moments.

Studying tea and kaiseki has gradually become a path toward that way of living.

Tome’s Wa-Lifestyle is a record of this ongoing journey — a quiet exploration of Japanese culture, tea, food, and the rhythms of the seasons.
I hope that what I share here might offer a small moment of calm, or an inspiration to find your own “wa” in everyday life.

“Thoughts become words, words become actions,
actions become habits, habits become character,
and character becomes destiny.”
